Spectrum opened in fall of '67 as the home of the expansion Flyers and the Sixers who had been in town for about 4 years. The defending champion Sixers had great regular season but blew it in the Eastern Conference finals and then traded Wilt. The Flyers also played well their first season, but the Spectrum itself had a rough year. A chunk of the roof blew off that winter and they had to close it for a month.
